Last August 9 to 11, 2013, the Rotaract Club of Los Baños had joined the activity sponsored by the Rotaract Club of Makati Olympia. It all started with a meeting during the night of August 9 (Friday) in preparation for the peace-building workshop held last Saturday and Sunday at the Los Baños National High School. The meeting was attended by Rotaractors from the two clubs under the supervision of Rotary Club of Los Baños and Makati Olympia. The principal of LBNHS was also present in the said meeting.
The Peace-building workshop started in the morning of August 10 wherein the participants coming from LBNHS and other neighboring public schools had introduced one another in a form of a game. 100 participants were expected to join the event but due to other commitments, many were not able to attend. To fill-up the empty participant slots, some members of the Rotaract Club of Los Baños had joined the event as participants.
The two-day event was filled with games, ice breakers, talk, lessons and fun. The participants were able to showcase their talents and apply them for the peace initiative. Then, the event ended with a culminating activity and awarding.
After the closing ceremony, the Rotaract Club of Makati Olympia and Rotaract Club of Los Baños gathered for the official signing of agreement as partner clubs.
The peace-building workshop had been a successful event despite of the challenges faced because of the help of other participating organizations like the Asian American Initiative and the Ayala Foundation. The participants were also able to learn how to become peace builders and promote it through education as an initiative to build communities through peace and leadership.
